Information about the Planning Committee
In the national planning process, Parish Councils are statutory consultees and the Local Planning Authority (Warwick District Council) has a duty to consult with the Council about planning applications affecting the Burton Green Parish.
Burton Green Parish Council has no power to approve or refuse planning applications, but can submit comments to the Planning Officers at WDC for consideration. Planning Offices do not have to agree with the Council’s comments, but they must consider them before deciding whether to grant or refuse permission for a development.
The Council’s Planning Committee meets on an ad-hoc basis to consider and respond to planning applications referred to the Council by Warwick District Council. The Committee has delegated powers to make a decision about a planning application on behalf of the Council although sometimes the Committee decides that the application should be passed to the full Council for consideration owing to its size, controversial nature or effect on the parish.
